When Italians Should Apply for a US Visa?
To travel to the United States, you will need a visa.
- Traveling for purposes other than short-term trips and business
- If your travel visit will remain longer than 90 days.

- Complete the DS-160 online application
- Create an account
- Pay online the non-refundable MRV fee
- Schedule an interview appointment with a consultant for an interview

- Valid passport
- One passport-size photo for each visa applicant, including infants.
- Documentation that demonstrates social, economic, and family ties to Italy. Such documents might include original residence permits for foreigners, certificates of residence, family status, marriage certificates, employment contracts, last pay slips, contracts of sale or lease of property, tax returns, bank statements, etc.
- Satisfactory documentation proving the purpose and duration of the trip. In case of medical treatment please provide the following: medical diagnosis from a physician, indicating the reason treatment is needed in the United States and the nature of the ailment
- Letter from a physician in the United States stating the willingness to treat the diagnosis.
- A letter of proof that the patient includes medical, transportation, and living expenses in the United States will be paid.
- If approved, the visa is issued within a week. The passport will be then returned to DHL according to the option you select through your account online (home delivery or pick up at a designated DHL location)
- If the visa is denied, after the interview your passport will be returned with a letter of visa refusal.
